Christmas eve, been rapping all morning (along to the Executioners course), and done a bit of wrapping as well. I thought it appropriate to upload a bit of a Christmas song, but of course Bucket of Tentacles style. You’re welcome to sing along for the first half and then MC along for the second!!
(Christmas tree decorations undertaken by VT)
The tentacle octology slithers on as Part 5 rears its ugly head. Partly dedicated to the potential end-of-the-world “predicted” by the Mayan calendar the track is my audio depiction of before, during and after.
Tentacle 5 (Trecena)
Original drums recorded on vdrums, but I really didn’t like the way they sounded (i’ve been having problems getting a good recording from them and trying not to blame my playing), so I used a loop from the kaossilator and hacked it up to be in 5/4 time. All remaining recording from the Korg Microstation excluding the final piano section.
Whilst in Bournemouth Aquarium, I found this rather magnificent octopus hiding in a cup (or bucket!) which seemed like a perfect moment for this site. As I approached his tank he writhed his way out of the cup and settled in front of me. I managed to capture a few shots on camera as per the sequence. Truly captivating. The second shot shows where science fiction got the inspiration for a typical alien from!
To try and understand photoshop a bit better, I self created the film-reel and then twisted it all up for the second pic, which probably took me far longer than it should have done!
Unbelievably its now been a year since I started playing piano so whilst I should be trying to demonstrate my new found skills, instead I recorded this track. A few simple chords, but I like the vibe to it. It’s a “Korg-fest” as everything here is done on the Kaossilator and Microstation. It actually started of from a bit of a mess around on the Kaossilater, so as usual, there was no plan and the track just sort of evolved. I really should try and write before starting to record!
Here is another very short 1 bar loop done on the Kaossilator. Its so quick and easy to create short parts on it in an almost random fashion, and i quite like the intensity of this one.
