Not so early morning…..

I’ve not been recording much music recently, just practicing or thinking that i should be practicing.  I have been enjoying taking photos though, and have been to Saltwells nature reserve again today and got these shots below.

face

An impressive piece of graffiti.  Nice vibe.

Tree

Probably the strangest tree i’ve ever seen

Tree2

Same tree, different angle.  90 degree branch!

Bush

Evil undergrowth

Sunlight

A different day – sunshine in Clent

I’ve also been working on the first Bucket of Tentacles EP!! I’ve uploaded most of the songs before, but have selected my favourites and have been preparing some artwork – all for my own personal indulgence of course!  I’ll hopefully be recording the final song for it soon.

Early Morning…..

I emerged from bed on this fine Sunday at 7am and slipped into my best fleece, jumped on my bike and hit the road at 7:30am armed with a slight headache and my camera.  Here’s the results: –

Five-Ways

Cradley Heath High Street with not a car in sight, so i had to go for a retro feel.

Log

Just a log and a tree really, but it must be art when you look at it from a funny angle!

Horse

A distant view of St. Andrews Church in Netherton.  And a horse.

Dragon1

There are some fabulous metal sculptures in Saltwells nature reserve.  This is one of them.

Engine-House

Old engine house close to the Netherton tunnel.

Engine-Wall

The brick wall in the engine house.

Tree

A modern art tree.  Quite a common sight in Dudley.

I’ve also finally downloaded photos from my phone so have uploaded a few to the GALLERY

Time for a Christmas song……

Christmas eve, been rapping all morning (along to the Executioners course), and done a bit of wrapping as well.  I thought it appropriate to upload a bit of a Christmas song,  but of course Bucket of Tentacles style.  You’re welcome to sing along for the first half and then MC along for the second!!

Happy Christmas!

The tech specs:  Despite me promising never to buy any more gear, this track was recorded on a new Zoom R16.  Its looking like my old cymbals are going up for sale though to fund…….  The Zoom is a 16 track portable recorder, which can do 8 tracks simultaneously.  All tracks can be “mixed on the box” which is fantastic, or you can dump the audio direct into a DAW.  In this case, Cubase LE6 (light version of Cubase) that came with the Zoom.  So its all been a bit of a new experiment really to get me used to the new gear and software.  Just a note on the drums, I tried to find a “junglist” pattern in 3/4 but unsurprisingly haven’t got one, so banged this one out (on the keyboard) at half speed and sped it up – the wonders of modern technology eh?!  The main use of the Zoom will be to record the acoustic band i’m in (Lowdown) simply and quickly live.  But then have the audio on separate tracks just to get a better mix, so hopefully we’ll record an EP soon!

The Oak

This is dedicated to all the Oak trees out there. A new piece recorded during a very relaxing day off on the Jubilee weekend…..
