Here is the new beginning of the Bucket. Now the tentacles rule, only the mighty waves holding back their slithering wrath.
What all that means of course is a new piece! Similar in style to my last post, this is a development of the theme… the bionic-tentacle world. A push on the drum programming (especially the death metal fills towards the end) and still exploring the synth world – its so different to the natural vibe I’ve tried to use before. More to come…… Other news, I have found a new piano teacher in Manchester – very talented classical player from Ukraine – I’m looking forward to getting back into regular lessons again – and of course some pieces I learn will be posted here.
Also – check out a friend of mines book – Twitch Rises – fantastic descriptive horror writing!
Not at all a music post, but very tentacle related. I had an idea of modyfing one of my favourite piece of art – a woodblock print – The Great Wave off Kanagawa part of the “36 views of Mount Fuji” by Katsushika Hokusai
I think what i love so much about the original is how it captures a split-second – the wave was a moment in time never to be repeated. For me it also perfectly depicts the power of nature. As the wave surges and destroys anything in its path, there is no sense of guilt or remourse.
So I did the unthinkable – i re-drew it without Mount Fuji and added some sprawling Tentacles. So as a bow down to the original, here is my version.
I also put it through the mangle that is photoshop and came up with this “negative” version:
